Bio
Carlo Gallo-Balma (b. 2001, Dominican Republic) is a visual artist currently living in Milan. His work moves between photography, performance, and moving image, drawing on his Haitian and Italian heritage to explore identity, memory, and belonging. He transforms inner emotions into shared experiences, weaving image, body, and ritual as tools for storytelling.
Carlo studied Advertising in the Dominican Republic and later earned a Master’s in Photography and Visual Design at NABA – Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti, in Milan. He has developed photographic books, narrative videos, and performance works that blur the lines between personal archive and collective history.
In 2025, he presented Echoes of the Loa at UFO Gallery in Milan, a performance that bridged ancestral memory with contemporary expression. He also interned with Italian artist Alan Maglio, further strengthening his collaborative and production skills.
His artistic journey is an ongoing search for ways to make the invisible visible — to craft images and experiences that resonate beyond the eye and linger in the body.
